November 1st, 2007 by astrotriforce

Unreal Tournament III on PCUnreal Tournament III for the PC has just gone gold (that means it’s off to the factory!) and is scheduled to hit store shelves on November 19th in the US said developer Epic Games today. So looks like Unreal Tournament 3 won’t miss it’s November release date after all. Hallelujah!

The game will be hitting in two different editions. The standard edition will cost $49.99 and the limited edition will run you $59.99. The Limited Edition, as per usual, will ship in a tin case and come with a bonus DVD.

As for the PS3 version of the game, there was no update on it and it may still be delayed till early 2008. Although now that the PC version is indeed coming, there is a chance it could still hit this year.

Check out the already-released Unreal Tournament 3 demo to give the game a play-run yourself.

November 19th is set to be quite a huge day in the world of gaming. Also releasing on November 19th will be: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for PS3, Rock Band for Xbox 360 & PS3, Mass Effect for Xbox 360, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for DS and Link’s Crossbow Training complete with the Wii Zapper for Nintendo Wii.

Delays hit Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3), World in Conflict (Xbox 360) and Tabula Rasa (PC)

October 3rd, 2007 by astrotriforce

The delay monster continues to attack even as the holiday season edges closer and closer.

World in Conflict on PCOnly two weeks after the release of Vivendi Game’s RTS World in Conflict, Sierra Entertainment, who is handling the Xbox 360 port of the game, has announced that they have delayed World in Conflict on Xbox 360 until (probably early), 2008. No reason was given for the delay.

World in Conflict is set during an alternate history that portrays a fictional Third World War. Rather than sit passively by as its Warsaw Pact vassal states revolt in 1989, the Soviet Union invades Western Europe, which touches off a global conflict replete with limited tactical nuclear warfare. The game’s story was written by Larry Bond, coauthor of the Tom Clancy novel Red Storm Rising, which also chronicles a fictional US-USSR war.

Pre-Order the Unreal Tournament III - Collector's Edition on PCNext up is Unreal Tournament III for PS3. Midway still plans to ship the PC version of the game in November, but has said that the Playstation 3 version of Unreal Tournament III “most likely” will not see release in 2007, but probably in early in 2008; Something Mark Rein, Epic’s president, had already cautioned fans about, stating that the Nov. release of both versions was only a target and wasn’t assured. Midway also stated (all this in a conference call) that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III does not yet have a release date due to a temporary exclusivity to the PS3 platform. But you can likely see it in early 2008 as well.

Pre-Order the Tabula Rasa - Collector's Edition for PCLastly, the sci-fi MMORPG Tabula Rasa (created by famed designer Richard Garriot) has been pushed back by two weeks till November 2nd, despite the game going gold (meaning they are pressing copies at the factory) early last month. Pre-Orderers of the game though will have access to it a bit early on October 30th. As for the reasoning of the game missing it’s original October 19th launch date? Producer Starr Long stated, “This short but critical amount of time will give us time to address several issues including stability and balance as well as allowing our players to test the continent of Ligo (L38+) and our major changes to crafting for a few weeks rather than a few days.”

Tabula Rasa’s standard edition will retail for $49.99. A collector’s edition of the game that includes several in-game extras, as well as a special message from Garriott, bonus maps and survival guides, Tabula Rasa dog tags, a commemorative coin, a poster, and a making-of DVD, will be available for $69.99. Both editions include the first month of play free. Afterward, the game requires a recurring monthly subscription fee of $14.99. — GS

Unreal Tournament III will not have cross platform play (PC-PS3). Feature might be added later on

September 28th, 2007 by supadupagama

Unreal Tournament III for PCUnreal Tournament III for PS3In an IRC talk with members of Epic’s Unreal Tournament III team, Epic’s boss Mark Rein said that, “The biggest challenge in doing cross platform play is synchronizing the builds such that the build on the PC is 100% compatible with the build on the PS3. Unfortunately (or fortunately) when you [develop] games on console you have a lengthy certification process to go through each time you release anything new.

We looked at how this would impact our ability to respond quickly to things happening at internet speed on the PC side of the equation and realized that this would not be in the best interests of our very loyal PC userbase because we would constantly be holding on to updates to wait until they passed cert on the console platform. Our PC fanbase is of ultimate importance to us. They are our bread and butter.

We can’t let them (PC gamers) down or compromise their experience in any way to accommodate cross platform play [with PS3 gamers]. This doesn’t completely rule out adding this feature at some point in the future after the game has settled down.
