Tomb Raider: Anniversary is out now for download via the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace, but you can only get it if you already own Tomb Raider: Legend on disc, since the downloads act as additional episodes; Although it’s the entire Tomb Raider: Anniversary game, just split up into four downloads (the initial level of which is downloadable for free, btw).
This makes Tomb Raider: Anniversary the first full-retail game to be available for download over Xbox Live (although the audience is limited obviously).
This is in addition to all the other ways you can get the game, which is available as a standalone Xbox 360 title that you can buy on store shelves (but hey, now you don’t even have to get up off your couch to play it!) as well as on the PC, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable, Nintendo Wii and you can download Tomb Raider: Anniversary via Valve’s Steam service (although Europe is excluded).
If you’ve never heard of the game, it is a remake of the original Tomb Raider but using the engine (which includes updated graphics, effect, physics and control) from the extremely successful Lara Croft revival, Tomb Raider Legend. And since it is a remake of a very, very old and archaic game, many changes were made to update it to a modern experience and to make-up for all of Lara’s new moves and abilities that weren’t available in the original game. But all the same worlds and the feel of the original game is largely intact. Making it a great place to get acquainted with the video game icon Lara Croft if you never played the original.
Here is a trailer for the Xbox Live version of the game (which oddly enough doesn’t say anything about you having to own Tomb Raider: Legend on disc in order to download it).
Nights: Journey of Dreams is coming exclusively to the Wii on December 18th (November 23rd in Europe & Australia) and the game is a dreamy follow-up to the original Sega Saturn cult-classic.
This video shows extensive gameplay footage set to some really dreamy and soothing music (although it does get old after a while). You’ll see that most of the gameplay consists of flying around and through rings set in the air. The flight looks fun but I wonder how long it’ll last before it gets old. You’ll also see some on-foot sections with two children, a boy and a girl, and these sections look like an average platformer with some not-so-smooth animation. Hopefully the stilted gameplay in these sections (which is far removed from the flight) doesn’t bust the game. Sonic Team USA doesn’t exactly have the greatest track record, so I’m holding out hope that this game will be cool.
I do dig the transformations though and the game looks like it could be interesting. I never played the original so I’m eager to see how this one turns out.

The new Turok game is definitely looking sweet. New gameplay movies of the game show some very smooth gun fighting gameplay with lots of dinosaurs. In that regard it looks better than any of the previous games did. The action is fast and ferocious, even if the T-Rex battle isn’t . . . hopefully it’ll get cleaned up some by the time the game releases, as the T-Rex certainly looks like a push-over and didn’t have the sheer ferocity I was expecting.
The Dark Jungle gameplay movie is particular impressive. You have to fight lots of little climbing dinosaurs that are not only very fast (and will jump on top of you and try to chew your head off) but they can climb up and around the trees! Now THIS is the type of gameplay you like to see from a new Turok game.
I can’t wait to try this game out. Very cool.
Turok is due in February 2008 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Call of Duty 4 is out now in the US, Australia and just came out yesterday in Europe. It is also available for pre-purchase on Valve’s PC Steam service and will be available to play via Steam on November 12th. And Call of Duty 4 is already topping the sales charts! Not as if anyone had any doubt that it would. It is available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 (check out a Call of Duty 4 Xbox 360 vs PS3 video comparison to see how both versions stack up to each other).
Previously we posted two Making of Call of Duty 4 featurette videos, and here are two more for your viewing pleasure.
It’s been a long road in coming, but the last Final Fantasy Retrospective is finally complete. If you missed the Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 12, it looked at the remakes in the series.
For the final installment in this 13 part video retrospective, they take a look at the parts and themes of Final Fantasy that make the whole. In other words, what makes a Final Fantasy game a Final Fantasy game? What separates it from the plethora of other RPGs?
While the answer is long-winded and complex, there’s quite a bit of fun tidbits contained in this FF Retrospective soundoff. A great closing to an outstanding series of retrospectives.
You can learn a lot about your friends in an elevator. Listen as Kane and Lynch from Kane & Lynch: Dead Men on Xbox 360, PS3 & PC argue about Grand Theft Auto games and GTA IV’s delay to pass the time to their own game’s release a week from now.
