Development times vary from game to game. But which companies take the cake when it comes to the longest development cycles or most delayed games? This list even starts with a game that was over a decade in the making before being released, and it’s not even Duke Nukem Forever! Every game in the list has a link to its development history. Here it goes:
Xbox 360 gamers playing Team Fortress 2 online have been having lag issues since the game came out last week. Valve’s included the multiplayer game in their epic Half-Life 2: The Orange Box compilation, but overlooked some serious lag issues on Xbox Live. This issue isn’t a problem for PC gamers. Most complaints are from gamers attempting to participate in more competitive 6v6 or 8v8 matches, where “connection to host lost” messages pop up all the time or playing the game became impossible because of never ending lag.
The developer told 1UPthey’ve already finished a title update and sent it to Microsoft. Unlike the PC world, patches are not immediate and fix has to go through Microsoft’s certification process. Valve expects the title update patch will arrive either sometime this weekend or early next week.
Valve is having a special event this Friday. A dozen of Valve Softwares development team for Team Fortress 2 will be on Xbox Live, ready to own, or get owned. Add or watch for these gamertags.
Valve knows that some of you playing The Orange Box have experienced lag while playing 8-on-8 or 6-on6 Team Fortress 2 games, and they see the problem and are making a fix. It’s all complete, it just needs to go through to Microsoft’s verification process. Hopefully it will make it out alive and well.
The Half-Life 2: The Orange Box compilation includes the FPS adventure games Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two, Portal, and Team Fortress. It’s developed by Valve and published this week by Electronic Arts for PC and Xbox 360 (PS3 version coming later on).
So it’s time to go hands on with Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress. Take note of how Half-Life 2 and Episode One are improved graphically. A must-have collection!
