New Final Fantasy MMO or original Square Enix MMO coming?

November 28th, 2007 by supadupagama

Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection 2007 for PCSquare Enix VP Hiromichi Tanaka was asked at the recent Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival, if they eventually plan on moving on from Final Fantasy XI, and developing a whole new Final Fantasy MMO? their answer was:

“As you might already know, members from the current Final Fantasy XI [PC, PS2, Xbox 360] team are working on a next generation MMO, but it still hasn’t been decided whether that’s going to be a game in the Final Fantasy series, a continuation, or a totally new game. We are working on it, but it hasn’t been decided that far yet.” — From Gamasutra, via Kotaku

Top 10 overdue sequels from Square Enix (that aren’t Final Fantasy RPGs)

November 27th, 2007 by supadupagama

Vagrant Story for PlayStationMost of Square Enix’s promising upcoming games are either from the Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest series. Aside from Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery that is. Still, most of the sequels aren’t a surprise and so QJ made a list of great games, from console generations long ago, that deserve a sequel nowadays.

10. Einhander (PlayStation); a 2D space shooter.
9. Live a Live (Super Famicom); a turn-based strategy elements game with a time travel story.
Ehrgeiz for PlayStation8. Threads of Fate (PlayStation); an action game with platforming, an adventure with monster collecting.
6. Chocobo Racing (PlayStation); exactly what it sounds like, a Mario Kart clone.
5. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES); everyone wants Square to do another star-studded RPG sequel.
4. Parasite Eve (PlayStation); ignoring the upcoming mobile game, the survival horror game should get a console release.
Chrono Trigger for SNES3. Chrono Trigger (Super NES); ignoring Chrono Cross, a full sequel is wanted on the scale of the original.
2. Vagrant Story (PlayStation); an action-adventure RPG fixing lots of different genres together.
1. Xenogears (PlayStation); with the RPG’s director unsure if the Xenosaga trilogy was a direct sequel or prequel, a full sequel is a must.

Play FFVII Instead!

November 22nd, 2007 by Kabalyero

I’m still having problems with Second Life and because of that I am not able to do my regular Second Life routine like exploring and looking for Camping spots. Not only that, I plan to create a lot of Christmas Cards but can’t because Second Life won’t let me. Second Life still freezes on me. In fact, I have to use another computer just to give away the prizes.

Well, since I can’t login to Second Life without freezing, I played another game instead and that game is Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation. I won’t be earning Linden Dollars from this game but at least I’ll have some good old fun. LOL!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to save my game. Now, I’ll have to repeat everything again. Darn! :(

I think Linden Labs should stabilize the regular or the standard viewer first than spending too much time hyping their Windlight First Look Viewer where not everyone will be able to enjoy because not everyone has a cutting edge gaming machine. Yeah, Windlight looks great but can your machine handle it without spending $$$ upgrading it?

Also, it is nice to have something to pass your time while Second Life is down or when it’s under maintenance. I might even re-install Rakion Online. I have WarRock installed and it’s a Counter-Strike wannabe. The graphics are good but still Counter-Strike is better.

For the time being, I’ll stick with Final Fantasy VII. ;)

History of Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 12. Square goes remake crazy!

October 29th, 2007 by astrotriforce

Final Fantasy III for Nintendo DSThe second to last Final Fantasy Retrospective, part 12 in the 13 part series, has finally been posted (Check out the Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 11 if you missed it).

This one takes a very in-depth, complicated, and somewhat long-winded (but awesome nonetheless!) look at ALL the various Final Fantasy remakes, iterations and various translations that have been done over the years, and there are many of them!

These various re-releases have hit every system from the original Playstation to the Game Boy Advance to the PSP and many more (WonderSwan ring a bell?).

I can’t wait for their final retrospective!!!!!!

Final Fantasy hits Wii Ware in Japan March 2008

With the revelation of a new Final Fantasy title hitting Wii Ware, we here at Wii Fanboy found ourselves so excited that ... well, embarrassment be damned, we peed in our pants a little. What, like you haven't ever been that excited in your life? Well, aren't you just so perfect.

Anyway, some new details have hit regarding the game. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Little King and the Promise Country (now that's a title!) will be releasing to the Japanese public in March next year, costing 1500 Wii Points. The game will also take place after the GameCube title, with players taking over the role of the Little King, a Clavat-race character by the name of Leo.

1500 Wii Points is a better price than we thought the game would cost, to be honest.

First Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days screenshots and details for the DS game’s storyline, single player, (co-op) multiplayer

September 28th, 2007 by supadupagama

Kingdom Hearts 3582 Days DS screenshotIn Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for Nintendo DS, you will explore a variety of Disney worlds in not only single player mode. But also in (cooperative) multiplayer missions made possible by the unique networking features of the DS in an all-new and mysterious Kingdom Hearts storyline.

The latest issue of the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reveals the first screenshots of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It gives a nice look at what to expect from the DS action-RPG. Square Enix will let Japanese developer H.A.N.D. make the new game, but the Kingdom Hearts people are overseeing the project. Tetsuya Nomura is the director, with Tomohiro Hasegawa, who served as art director and was responsible for texture work in Kingdom Hearts II, serving as co-director. On the H.A.N.D. side, the head of production is Kouji Yamamoto. He previously worked on Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book.

The storyline will focus on Roxas and his time with Organization XIII. The game will tell the story of why why Roxas attempted to enter the Organization XIII, and eventually why he attempted to leave. The game starts off when Roxas enters Organization XIII, but we could end up seeing his birth in the game’s prologue.

PS2 Kingdom Hearts 2 for PS2Looking at the Kingdom Hearts story timeline, the game takes place before Kingdom Hearts II, during the one year period where Sora is asleep. Sora’s memory is being reconstructed during that time. The development staff is currently thinking up some methods for incorporating the ability to see Sora’s memories into the game; this is just in the idea phase, but it could involve something that focuses on the connection between Sora and Roxas.

Chocobo’s trailer of mystery

January 1st, 1970 by David Hinkle

The latest trailer for Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon is mysterious because we can't find out what we like about it most. Maybe it's the soothing music that feels like it should be playing during the credits of Battle Royale or something (don't ask us how we came up with that association, they really don't sound that alike). Maybe it's the young green-haired boy, who reminds us of Cabbage Head (oh, how we miss you Kids in the Hall). Or, maybe it's because that Chocobo is just so darn cute.
