The company just announced that, like its other recent DS offerings, all copies of Knights will come in an oversized box with a bundled CD soundtrack disc. In addition, preorders from “participating retailers” will include an art book!
In its press release about the bundle, Atlus blamed Charlie the Chimpanzee, the ape in charge of the Spoils program, for recent excesses. “In hindsight, hiring a non-human for this position may have been a mistake,” said Atlus PR manager Aram Jabbari.
New screenshots are available in our gallery, and we’ve got a second gallery after the break featuring preview images from the art book.
One of the many reasons we love Bionic Commando and want to see it on the Virtual Console so badly is for its awesome, 8-bit soundtrack. So, when Capcom released Simon Viklund’s album for Bionic Commando Rearmed, which reworks the NES songs into a more modern-day sound, we had to have it.
We know that Rearmed isn’t coming to the Wii, despite Wii gamers’ pleas and petitions. Still, there’s no denying the NES roots in Viklund’s music, and just because we’re not getting the actual game doesn’t mean we should deprive ourselves of some great tunes, does it?
In fact, the folks at Capcom are releasing the soundtrack even though they think they’ll lose money on it, simply because they love and believe in the music that much. After listening to it, we have to say that we can see why. If you’re interested, you can get the full soundtrack on iTunes or at Sumthing Digital for $9.99 (or buy the tracks you like separately for $0.99).
Game|Life’s Jean Snow, along with a very exclusive audience that naturally did not include us (we’d be happy just to be able to buy the CD), attended the launch party for the No More Heroes Dark Side CD, which features remixes of Masafumi Takada’s excellent soundtrack by other game and chiptune musicians. The party took place at Shinjuku’s 8-bit Cafe, a retrogaming-themed restaurant with displays of classic games, and even a bin full of games for customers to play at any of the systems set up around the shop.
Once the event closed, the celebration moved to another bar called 16 Shots — as in Takahashi Meijin’s button-mashing record. You’ll never hear a geekier name for a business, at least until our loan goes through.
In appreciation of Guitar Hero and Halo fans alike, Neversoft, Bungie, Activision/RedOctane, and Microsoft have all joined forces to bring players the iconic Halo theme (MJOLNIR Mix) as a free playable song for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, exclusively for the Xbox 360. The theme will be available from Xbox Live Marketplace starting today. Happy Thanksgiving!
The Halo theme was written, composed, and performed by Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori; and the MJOLNIR Mix features guitars performed by the Grammy Award winning guitar hero, Steve Vai.
“It’s a real pleasure to hear one of the best loved and most iconic themes from Bungie’s Halo Universe in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock,” said Marty O’Donnell, Composer and Audio Director for Bungie Studios. “As longtime fans of the Guitar Hero franchise, it was great to collaborate with Neversoft and Activision/RedOctane to offer this exciting free download to our fans.”
Since I couldn’t find a video of someone playing the song, here’s a “scientist” putting Halo 3 and a Guitar Hero 3 X-plorer guitar controller in the blender! “Will it blend?”
PS: There’s also a Demo for The Orange Box’s Half-Life 2 Episode Two available on Xbox Live today.
Importers NCSX and Play-Asia are freeing us from the unavailability of awesome Japanese Club Nintendo exclusives -- presumably, by paying some Japanese people for theirs. Whatever methods they use to get these things, we cannot argue with the results. Because the result is the opportunity to preorder the Super Famicom Classic Controller.
Bothcompanies will ship the item in April (and the Super Mario Galaxysoundtrack in January) in April, but NCSX is taking preorders right now for $30. We don't know when Play-Asia will open preorders or how much they will charge. All we know is this: YES. Who cares if it's a freebie for Club Nintendo members? We're just happy to have a shot at it.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
Just look at that. Isn't it glorious? What you're seeing above, folks, is a Wii-compatible SNES pad. Let's say that again, shall we? A Wii-compatible SNES pad. Don't get too worked up though, because unless you're a member of Club Nintendo in Japan, these are off-limits (not that using a SNES pad for your VC games is impossible, but still, this is the real deal).
Good news for all you Guitar Hero 3 rock stars playing the game on the Xbox 360. You can now go online via Xbox Live and download the “Boss Battle Track Pack” with all of the game’s three boss songs for FREE! I know a lot of you were worried about having to pay for downloadable Guitar Hero 3 content that was already in the game, so this is a relief. No doubt it will show up next week on the PS3’s PlayStation Network download service as well.
The Boss Battle Track Pack includes: The Devil Went Down to Georgia as made famous by The Charlie Daniels Band. Slash’s Original Composition for the Boss Battle Recording. Tom Morello’s Original Composition for the Boss Battle Recording.
Activision earlier announced that gamers bought over $115 million of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock games within seven days of the game’s North American release, making it the largest single product launch in the company’s history. The game was released on October 28, 2007, and will launch in Europe on November 23, 2007. The franchise has sold more than six million units worldwide to date!
Two Guitar Hero III song packs have been released online for download from the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Marketplace. There are also two free trailers (included below) that preview the content in these song packs:

Update: In America the two Guitar Hero III track bundles are available for PS3 download from the PlayStation Store. Also priced at US$6.25 each.
While looking through Guitar Hero 3’s Xbox Live Leaderboards, a Scorehero forumer found (with photographic proof) nine songs not in the game that are meant to be released as downloadable content along with the three battle songs for scoring. Expect each band’s songs to be sold separately as a 3-song pack. Like in our Guitar Hero 3 74 songs list, I’ve linked to videos for each song.
Keep in mind that only PS2 owners of the game cannot download extra song packs, everyone else will be able to get these… at a so far unknown price. The previous Guitar Hero 2 downloads cost $6.25 for each pack on the Xbox 360, and since those have been downloaded over 650,000 times, I wouldn’t expect Activision to change the price.
Here’s an early leak of the complete 74 songs list in Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock. Of course developer Neversoft had hoped to keep the last remaining 14 songs a secret until the American launch of the game on October 28th for Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and Wii. Later on November 12th the PC and Mac versions will appear. And Europeans will have to wait until November 23rd, 2007.
The below list is ordered by song title and followed by band name. You’ll notice the two link to a video of the song itself or the song being played in Guitar Hero 3 (depending on availability), each video will pop up in a new window for you to watch when you click on the link.
