Ah, soccer … the sport of kings. Oh, wait. That’s chess. Or maybe that’s the game of kings. Anyhow, we’re talking about soccer. Well, soccer here in America, “football” to the rest of the known world. Ubisoft has a new soccer game coming out for the Wii called Academy of Champions, and despite the awkward combination of Pele (a legend) and Joel McHale (a goofball) at Ubisoft’s E3 presser, the game is actually fun. Especially when you’re playing with friends.
You can see new screenshots from the game below before heading beyond the break to read our hands-on and see the new trailer for Academy of Champions. It’s a bit like a Hogwart’s for soccer, except without all the death and killing and such. But is there magic? Oh yes … you can actually play as Sam Fisher in full-stealth mode. Find out more inside.
A new Wii Fit video has surfaced and it shows more gameplay footage of the upcoming Wii Balance Board-supported fitness casual-game title.
You will get to see footage of the Soccer, Ski, Hula Hoop, and a bit of the Yoga exercise.
The game really looks fun. It may be simple and as casual as you get, but it’s hard to deny that hitting virtual balls with your head and twirling your body/balancing you weight to keep hula hoops spinning definitely looks fun judging by this video. If anything it’ll be a totally unique experience unlike anything we have seen before, just like the first time you played Wii Sports. The Hula Hooping actually looks a bit difficult . . . I wonder how many they toss at you?
Wii Fit has a release date of January 2008 in North America (December 1st in Japan).

Konami seems to be one of the few companies using motion controls to make a game potentially more in-depth instead of more casual-friendly. That seems like the right approach for the new Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. We can't imagine the Winning Eleven series being anything but complicated, and we wouldn't want to see it transition into a party game or whatever.
GamesRadar took some video of the game in action, which allows us to see what a real gameplay session would look like. Pointing to pass seems like a natural method of control that will also allow for greater precision and quicker moves. Way to make us care about soccer games, Konami!Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
Soccer fans, take note -- Konami's next installment of Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer is looking pretty good, and it seems they spent some time on the Wii controls. In this week's video spotlight, we've got a lengthy look at the control scheme ... and it's no watered-down, casual-friendly deal, either. Check out the video and see for yourself.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
Much like last week, this week is chock full of new releases for our beloved Wii. There's even one release that was to already be released last week, but had to be bumped forward to this week. There's even a title that originated on the GameCube releasing this week (which we've had some mixedfeelings about)..
