The New Empire of France

September 10th, 2008 by Kabalyero

It seems that RPG Empire decided to make the Empire of France sim into a Roleplay/Combat sim again. You see, a few weeks before, the Empire of France sim was changed into an open kind of sim that does not involve RP nor Combat. This happened when the people who were assigned to it left […]

A Sim Named Medevil England

August 19th, 2008 by Kabalyero

Medevil? I guess it’s supposed to be Medieval England because the latter is the name of the place although the sim’s name is Medevil England. Anyway, Medevil or Medieval England it doesn’t really matter, what matter is that it’s a region under RPG Empires in Second Life.
Medieval England is ruled by Enrich Halasy (former Emperor […]

E308: Wii Fanboy tends farm in Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility

July 25th, 2008 by David Hinkle

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility is a big game. The first thing that I noticed was just how large the game world is. You aren’t restricted to just one farm, instead able to spread many a seed across many a land. Aside from that, the game very much feels like all of the other Harvest Moon titles, which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on whether you’re a fan of the series or not.

Gallery: Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility

With it being the demo build and all, many things were unlocked from the outset. The main farm my character was situated at had a large plot of various flowers planted, which looked very nice. I had lots of animals, including a goat, sheep and, yes, an ostrich. I even rode it around some. It’s as awesome as it looks. There were even penguins!

Dwelling within the house was a family from the previous save. In Tree of Tranquility, once you play long enough and find a mate, eventually having some offspring, you can take all of the upgraded tools and use them with the new character, thus starting all over again. All of you Harvest Moon fanatics out there, I honestly don’t know how you could do it.

One thing that was a big issue when demoing the game was the frame rate. Because there were so many flowers and everything, the game ran pretty slow. But, I was told by Graham, the helpful Natsume rep showing off the game, this was due to the game being run on a dev kit (something about an extra buffer pass being needed). Regardless of what it was that did it, Graham knew of the issue and offered a very technical and thorough explanation of the issue. Basically, I was assured that it wouldn’t exist in the final build of the game.

Tree of Tranquility should provide Harvest Moon fans with loads of content. This should keep them content until next year, when another Harvest Moon game releases.

Ace Combat 6 downloadable content: 5 new planes ready for November 21 take off

November 19th, 2007 by supadupagama

Ace Combat 6 for Xbox 360Namco Bandai are set to launch downloadable content for the Xbox 360-exclusive flight action game Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation on Wednesday, November 21st. Five additional planes will appear as downloadable content on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

One of the planes will be a free download, while the other four will cost an unspecified amount of Microsoft Points.

The list of five planes is as follows:

* Su-33 Flanker — The Idolmaster Miki: Providing American gamers with a taste of the smash hit Idolmaster series, this variation gives the Su-33 added stability and an undeniable flair for the dramatic.
* F16C — Historic Windhover: Sacrificing stability and for unparalleled freedom of movement, this plane is the same as the one used by Emmerian freedom fighter and Garuda team member Daniel Pollini.
* Mirage 2000-5 — Experimental: This phenomenally fast aircraft is the culmination of exhaustive research on thrust refinement. This increase in speed comes at the cost of stability, making it suited to only the most skilled pilots.
* A-10A — Thunder Shark: This highly recognizable plane exchanges missiles for a devastatingly powerful Gatling gun, using its increased stability to hit its mark.
* F/A-18F — Scarface Emblem: Bearing the insignia of the heroes of Ace Combat 2, this aircraft’s armor has been reinforced at the expense of maneuverability.

Sadly 1UP didn’t mention which plane would be free, but I’m guessing it’s the Idolmaster Miki custom plane.

Pre-ordering customers using certain stores will also receive special in-game buildings, which will vary from shop to shop.

Here’s a look at the different cities like a ghost town.

Or how about skyscrapers or corn fields? You decide.

Will Wright says Spore is coming in spring 2008

October 24th, 2007 by supadupagama

Pre-order Spore for PCSpore creator Will Wright says the real-time life sim will release on PC in roughly six months time, that’s due spring 2008. But keep in mind ambitious games like these often get delayed, that’s why the previous best guess was Spore arriving between April 2008 and end 2009.

In an interview with Radio 5 Live, Will Wright said: “We have the game fully playable at this point and it’s in final testing. We’ve had to do a lot of testing to make sure that the game is accessible by a wide group of people. I want the people who have played The Sims to be able to play Spore - I don’t want it to be some thing just hardcore gamers play.”

If you’re not familiar with Spore, in the game you start off as a single-cell organism and then create your species at every stage of its evolution, from aquatic to its first steps on land through to tribes then a culture and then finally to explore whole galaxies.

Watch the idea behind Spore evolve in this trailer:
