The first screenshots and video of Soldier of Fortune 3: Payback (release date November 21st) for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 have finally surfaced.
The game is the latest in the Soldier of Fortune series previously developed by Raven Software. This new game is being handled by the Slovakian-based Cauldron (makers of “The History Channel: Civil War” and “Battle Isle” games) and will be published by Activision as part of their “Activision Value” line of budget games.
Not a lot is known about the game at this point, but it has been confirmed that “gore and flying body parts” will be returning, as well as character models that feature 36 different damage/separation points. The game will also have “destructible environments” although it’s not known to what degree.
Not confirmed are whether or not Soldier of Fortune 3 will continue using the GHOUL engine, an in-house engine developed by Raven Software for the previous games that allowed for such a high-detail level of blood, gore and dismemberment (that the series is famous for) or whether Soldier of Fortune 3: Payback will use an all-new engine, possibly the Doom 3 engine, which has been suggested but not confirmed.
Soldier of Fortune 3: Payback has a target release date of November 21st, 2007 but a final date has not been confirmed.
Check below for the first Soldier of Fortune 3 video footage (it’s early and was leaked) and more screenshots!
While the fourth title in the series may turn it’s back to the Dante we know and love, it looks like Nero is not lacking to much in the ass-kickery department. News has been consistently slow to come on this new Devil May Cry title; I interpret that as meaning there is still a big chunk of work needing to be done, so I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for new news. Judging by the screenshots though, it looks like gamers are in for more of the same marionette killing action, and that’s a good thing. The game will be available for PS3, X-Box 360, and PC of course, sometime in 2008.
Codemasters have released the first trailer from Operation Flashpoint 2, and seems to be purely designed to wet gamers appetites and leave us wanting more. And I’ll tell you, it absolutely achieves that goal.

Ever since the announcement of FarCry2, I’ve been a little worried about the whole Africa setting. After all, it was the lush beaches that made the original game so unique. But I guess we’ll have Crysis to fill that void now as FarCry2 takes place in a different setting. But damn does that setting look nice!
There’s some interesting things going on in the screenshots too - a storm affects trees in a major way and trees actually burn when set on fire. Have a look for yourself, here are the first screenshots from FarCry2. (more…)

Clive Barker’s Jericho looks to be coming along very nicely, as demonstrated by these latest screenshots Codemasters sent out today.
Clive Barker’s Jericho deals with the mysterious reappearance of a lost city in a remote desert. When a form of evil that goes right back to the dawn of days resurfaces from there, a Special Forces squad, trained in both conventional warfare and the arcane arts, is sent in. Their mission: Hunt down and destroy the evil that lurks at the heart of the city before it destroys humanity.
The game should be released some time in September. (more…)
We knew there was some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. related announcement coming from E3 and here it is: GSC Gameworld announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky - a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl - which will be released in Q1 2008.
Hopefully this one won’t be delayed like the original. For now though, check the game description, geatures and the first screenshots: A group of stalkers has for the first time reached the very heart of the Zone – Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blowout of anomalous energy changes the Zone. There are no more reliable and relatively safe roads. The entire levels vanish in the outbursts of anomalies. Stalkers and even expeditions die or end up sealed on the lost territories. New areas, which remained unknown since the time of the Zone emergence, appear on the Zone map. The Zone continues to shake with blowouts. The Zone is unstable. The anomalous activity is at its maximum. (more…)
