An orphan of the universe, he has never known anything of his past, his family, or his Lombax origins. And no one, not even Clank, can fill that void. Unfortunately for Ratchet, someone else is equally interested in Ratchet’s origins: Emperor Percival Tachyon. In his thirst for revenge, the vile tyrant of an ancient race of foul insect-like monsters called Cragmites has festered an age-old grudge and is bent on wiping the last-known Lombax off the universe!

Worms Open Warfare 2 for DSIn Worms: Open Warfare 2 you take control of a team of four Worms. The goal of the game is to defeat the opposing teams by reducing the health points of enemy Worms to zero without losing all of your worms first.

You can do this by using different types of weaponry and tools. You can also select victory dances for your worms and create your own race or fort maps using the level editor. Both versions have some exclusives, the DS version includes a bunch of great mini-games, while the PSP version allows players to select hats for their worms, has voice chat support, clan support, and messaging.

Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree for WiiNintendo has released “Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree“ also known as “Big Brain Academy for Wii” worldwide, it brings the return of the DS’s educational puzzle game, except this time expanded to the Wii.

Educational puzzle game? That’s right, and a fun one at that thanks to the multiplayer modes making it a party game. In the game you use your brain to effectively answer questions correctly alone, or in competitions against others, to increase your brain weight.

Nintendo is really on to something with this Touch Generation line of casual games, that this Brain Age-spinoff is part of, these games are meant for every generation and drove sales of this latest game to 1.38 million copies worldwide about four months after its release on Wii. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass review (DS)

November 11th, 2007 by astrotriforce

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DSThe Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is the newest game in the Zelda series and the first Zelda title for Nintendo’s extremely popular DS handheld. It is also a follow-up to the GameCube’s The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

The game brings many new mechanics to the series thanks to the unique features of the DS. All the features you’d expect are here in full force: Both screens are utilized, the game is entirely touch-screen controlled and you can even use the stylus to make notes, it takes advantage of online play with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and even the microphone comes into play at various times throughout the adventure.

The game also harkens back to the cell-shaded style from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker instead of the realistic style of Twilight Princess or the normal look of the past Zelda games. The game is effectively Wind Waker 2, but it does bring enough different things to the table to make it a unique game, thus the new subtitle, and you do not have to have played Wind Waker to enjoy Phantom Hourglass.

Wii Review: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

October 26th, 2007 by astrotriforce

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for WiiMetroid Prime 3: Corruption blasts onto the Nintendo Wii in Europe today (October 26th) and in Australia on November 8th. The game is already available in North America.

As has been widely publicized, Metroid Prime 3 is the final game in the Metroid Prime trilogy, which originated with the first Metroid Prime on Nintendo GameCube (released in the US on November 15, 2002) and was followed up by Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (released two years after the first game on November 15th, 2004 in the US), also for the GameCube.

While Metroid Prime 3 plays very similar to the first two titles (you view the game from a first-person perspective from within her helmet), it also has some new control enhancements and gameplay tweaks that make the game much more improved over the last two titles. And of course, the game makes extensive use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controllers to make it play unlike anything you’ve seen before. The game also has extensive voice acting, which is a major step-up from the last title.

So get ready to step into the metallic boots of female heroine Samus Aran once again, as she gets set to eradicate evil in the universe once and for all. And as such she’s a positive role-model for women and people everywhere if there ever was one in gaming. ;)

Read our in-depth 20-page, spoiler-free review for much more information on the game. Enjoy!

Zero Punctuation Reviews Halo 3

October 7th, 2007 by astrotriforce

Halo 3 - Limited Edition on Xbox 360So, the world is really divided into two kinds of people. Those that love them some Halo 3, and those that don’t. We’ve all heard plenty from the side that loves the game, whether it’s the guys who just think it’s a great shooter, to those who play nothing but multiplayer and want to pwn your granny (cause afterall, grandma plays Halo 3 too, don’tchaknow), to those who live and breath Halo 3 . . . and sleep with a little Master Chief action figure under their pillow.

But there are plenty of people on the other side. Those that, quite honestly, don’t see what the big deal is. To them, Halo 3 is “just another shooter”, and a cliche-filled, highly un-original sci-fi one at that. Blasphemy!? Yahtzee certainly doesn’t think so! Check out this review of Halo 3 from Zero Punctuation below. And enjoy!
