Are you getting tired of playing MySims and MySims Kingdom over and over again? Maybe you need something to help bridge the gap between MySims Party and MySims Agents. Good news: EA has dated MySims Racing, the MySims game that is about racing. The kart racer starring the almost intolerably cute MySims will be out in North America on June 12.
EA sent out new screenshots for the Wii version of the game, demonstrating some of the wacky powerups you can use against your opponents. A few standouts from EA’s list of in-game items: the Melon Accelerator (which shoots a watermelon at the closest car ahead of you), the Seed Thrower (shoots a seed at the ground that instantly grows into a tree), and, uh, Bunny Luv (invokes a Cupid-esque bunny to block opponents vision with cartoon hearts).
Let’s consider, for a moment, the immense and stalwart dedication exhibited by one Jem Alexander, our man at an ongoing Sega event in a snow-encased London. Despite being in the magnificent company of games featuring a certain sword-wielding hedgehog, this blogger deliberately looked away from the screen (reminder: featuring a hedgehog wielding a sword!) to send us an important email from his iPhone. Which he briefly confused with his iPod Touch — a notable hazard for those eccentric and loaded enough to own both. What’s up with that, Jem?
Anyway, he says Sega’s rhythmic finger bash, Let’s Tap, has been announced for European release. With the party game’s undoubtedly arduous localization confirmed, it probably won’t take too long for Sega of America to drum up a press release of its own. We’ll point out (and at) any updates as we receive them.
Barring those ridiculously annoying mid-race voice-overs from your competing racers, we still like what we’re seeing from Speed Racer. Originally, we thought the roads looked too narrow to pass anyone, but it seems like you can also flip over other racers (which is pretty sweet). We’re also still insanely curious about the music. Considering the game’s F-Zero and Wipeout influences, it has a lot to live up to in terms of soundtrack.
We’ve embedded another video below that was labeled as a “Stunt Gameplay” trailer, which shows the player (in Racer X’s car?) tossing other racers of the way, among other things.
Gripshift is an arcade racing puzzle game that was first released on the PSP back in 2005, then earlier this year a visually updated version appeared on the PS3 Store as a download with online play, similarly it will now drive to Xbox Live Arcade. The developers Sidhe Interactive are saying the Xbox Live Arcade release is “the definitive version of Gripshift”.
Similar to the PS3 version, if you buy the Xbox 360 game, you’ll get 120 challenge mode levels and updated graphics. Xbox 360 owners on top of this will get: achievement points, leaderboards, four-player online racing (25 tracks), and deathmatch modes (20 maps).
Gripshift carries an ESRB rating of “E” for Everyone and will be released in December 2007. While no price has been revealed yet, expect it to cost $10 like the PS3 version.
MX vs. ATV Untamed kicks it up a notch and shifts into high gear as the offroad franchise returns. THQ’s Rhythm Racing engine allows for new stunts and techniques, retaining the smooth feel of off-road racing at full speed.
Attempt to own the offroad by dominating the innovative new “X-Cross Tournament.” X-Cross brings together 8 unique racing series like Endurocross, Opencross, Supercross, Waypoint and SuperMoto and then crosses them into one ultimate offroad championship. Brand new styles of racing are born as powerful vehicles tear through treacherous trails in the new Opencross mode, while then shifting gears to navigate boulders, logs, and water pits in Endurocross. Players can take control of the new ORV Sport and multiple other vehicles, including Monster and Trophy Trucks, as they blitz through rough rivers, rip though swampy everglades, and blaze through the desert dunes. Amp up your favorite vehicles’ power, handling, and acceleration with more than 100 sponsor parts and accessories.
Be ready for speed and adventure with 10 massive open worlds to explore!
The racing game has a release date on December 17th for Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and DS.
After only about a month of availability, Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast has had $20 knocked off its price. But it's not because it's a horrible failure or something -- it's just Amazon's Deal of the Day! It's not often that first-party stuff gets discounted so soon, even just for a day. If you're looking for a Donkey Kong-themed racing game on the Wii involving bongo-barrel-shaped jetpacks, then this is probably the game for you, as it's the only game that description fits. For now.
M&M’s Kart Racing developer Destination Software really did not go all-out to make this tediously slow kart racer, where even the M&M’s constantly complain they need a better engine. The “franchised” low-budget Wii and DS game will be released in America on January 25, 2008. If anyone will buy it is a whole different matter, although I’m sure everyone has a favorite M&M “character”, mine’s Red.
Warning: This video is so bad it becomes hilarious!
Did you download the Need for Speed: ProStreet demo featuring two races, one speed challenge, and one grip race? If you want to compare the two versions on your own TV screen that would be a good way to do it, you can get them for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live respectively. Or you can watch the PS3 Versus Xbox 360 video comparison below. The game’s out today in America and on November 23rd in Europe and will appear on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP, although the versions shown here look the best.
Is it a head to head race, or does one version leave the other eating dust?
Burnout Paradise (Burnout 5) will be racing its way to PS3 and Xbox 360 in America on January 22nd and in Europe on January 24, 2008. So developer Criterion Games decided to give a tour of the 30km2 (11.6mile2) seamless open-world they’ve been building.
In this “Welcome to Paradise City” trailer you’ll see the spots and the sites you’ll be racing through in a menu- & loading-free Paradise City.
Bookmakers in the UK have bets for just about anything, even 2007’s Christmas videogames charts. Paddy Power places the following odds on these upcoming best-sellers to be number one.
The list: Need for Speed: ProStreet is on top based on its place there the past few years, FIFA 08 at 2-1, Halo 3 at 6-1, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 at 10-1.
Other big titles include: The Simpsons Game, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Super Mario Galaxy, and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Meet the loser: Balloon Pop with a horrible 250-1 chance.
Manhunt 2 is listed as 25-1, despite the game being effectively banned by the BBFC in the UK, although an appeal is pending, reports Gamesindustry.
Need for Speed: ProStreet’s release date is November 13th in America and November 23rd in Europe. It’s coming to Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS, PS3, PS2, PSP, and even Mobile.
