Fire Emblem opening video is cinematic candy

November 17th, 2007 by Candace Savino

We may have neglected Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn's release because of some other big releases this month, but we felt we had to show you the game's opening video because it's epic. Although Radiant Dawn came out earlier this month, the opening video seems to have only just hit the internet. If we didn't already own the game, we could see something like this making us rush out to buy it.

If you're still on the fence about the new Fire Emblem game, though, never fear, Nintendo Wii Fanboy is here. We'll be reviewing this game in the near future, so stay tuned.

Trauma Center Tuesday, brought to you on Wednesday (cause we’re rebels like that)

November 14th, 2007 by Candace Savino

Yesterday marked the last Trauma Center Tuesday before New Blood's release next week, and that means Atlus had more surgical goodies for us. The most notable treat this week was the video of the game's introduction, which we posted above for your viewing pleasure. Aren't we just the best?

Normally we wouldn't go all ga-ga over a game's opening (okay, well sometimes we do), but this is one of the best we've seen. The art, the effects, the music, and everything about this introduction makes us weak in the knees. It was like watching the opening to a TV show ... er, if TV show openings were actually good and made us want to cut people open.

Atlus, you sly dogs, now you have us looking deeper into our wallets during this video game glut, hoping that we can stretch them enough to pick up your game next week. Does anyone else feel our pain?

On a side note, you should check out the ridiculous poem Atlus sent us that's posted after the break. Atlus, stick to making video games and not poetry, okay?

"This Trauma Center Tuesday,
Three things shall we give thee!
The first is a release date,
This year, 'leven twenty (11/20/07)!

Se-cond shall we give you,
A brand new video!
It's quite different from those before,
For it's the game's intro!

And last but not the least,
For those who like a treat,
We offer up some art and stuff,
So you too can be l33t!!!"

You're lucky we love you and Trauma Center, Atlus, or we'd feel really, really inclined to make fun of that poem right now. And that would make us feel really bad, since you probably had an intern stay up all night to write it.

Lost Odyssey opening cinematic defines beautiful!

October 14th, 2007 by astrotriforce

Lost Odyssey LogoThe opening for Lost Odyssey has been revealed and boy is it beautiful! And I don’t just mean beautiful graphically, in fact that’s not what I mean at all, but musically! You’ll see when you watch the video but this is just what the Xbox 360 needs, and the music in this intro is so good it nearly brings tears to my eyes. If this is anywhere close to what the rest of the game sounds like then it looks to me that Nobuo Uematsu easily has one of his best soundtracks to date. Watch the beautiful intro to Lost Odyssey below.
Lost Odyssey has a release date of February 8th 2007 in Japan and February 2008 in the US and Europe.

Dune Apocalypse Soft Opening

September 20th, 2007 by Kabalyero

Second Life

This Friday, September 21, a couple of months of hard work by a small crew of dedicated Second Life Dune aficionados will culminate in the “soft opening” of a roleplaying sim called Dune Apocalypse. “Apocalypse” is appropriate because we start the simulation where Frank Herbert’s Dune ends, except the end has been changed, and we ask, what if things had gone badly? What if the hero Paul Maud’dib died? In fact, what if it all just melted down and the Spacing Guild had to pick up the pieces? That’s where our sim begins, with factions derived from the novel but populated by new characters created by our players. The fundamental conflicts of the novels remain: a battle of plots within plots for supremacy on a desert planet that holds the key to the galactic empire.

I’m a fan of the Dune game series, in fact, I spent countless hours playing Dune 2 even staying up all night trying to finish the game. If you are into Dune then be there on September 21- 23, 2007 for the soft opening of Dune Apocalypse sim.

No More Heroes intro turns us into wannabe assassins

No More Heroes may be too hard (for wusses), but if you think that means we're going to stop our blatantly ridiculous amount of coverage for this game, you're wrong. In fact, after hearing about the difficulty (even if it was a fake translation), we're more pumped than ever.

Our latest update brings you the game's English intro, according to Gametrailers. We love how the game completely demolishes the fourth wall, although some people may find that irritating. Also of note is Travis Touchdown whistling the NMH theme at the beginning.

Caveat: We at NWF are rating this trailer NSFW due to cursing, violence, and Sylvia in skimpy outfits.
