Ragnarok Online DS coming to U.S. store shelves

May 18th, 2009 by Griffin McElroy

XSEED’s adorable (and highly successful) MMO Ragnarok Online has been wooing players since its Korean launch in 2001. It went on to expand its dominion with the release of Ragnarok Online DS last December in Japan, selling like solid-gold hotcakes. However, XSEED has no plans of ceasing the expansion of the game’s enormous empire — it recently announced in a press release that Ragnarok Online DS will be coming Stateside this winter.

The game will be an action-RPG in the style of its PC predecessor, placing you in the shoes of a young adventurer in search of treasure. The mechanics of the core game are all there — level progression, job and class selection, et cetera. Though the DS port will doff the massivelyness of its PC iteration, it will allow three other players to join you wirelessly or via Wi-Fi. We expect the game’s adorability factor to also be appropriately off the charts.

Wii Warm Up: Best online?

September 5th, 2008 by Alisha Karabinus

Filed under:

If Nintendo’s got a weak point, it’s the online capabilities of Wii games. Compared to other services, online gaming for Nintendo fans is definitely lacking, but at least these days, we actually have a few games that are online. It’s an improvement! Which Wii game do you think has the best online mode, though, and why? Is that good enough?

Gripshift coming to Xbox Live Arcade in December with extra options shown in new video

November 28th, 2007 by supadupagama

GripShift for PSPGripshift is an arcade racing puzzle game that was first released on the PSP back in 2005, then earlier this year a visually updated version appeared on the PS3 Store as a download with online play, similarly it will now drive to Xbox Live Arcade. The developers Sidhe Interactive are saying the Xbox Live Arcade release is “the definitive version of Gripshift”.

Similar to the PS3 version, if you buy the Xbox 360 game, you’ll get 120 challenge mode levels and updated graphics. Xbox 360 owners on top of this will get: achievement points, leaderboards, four-player online racing (25 tracks), and deathmatch modes (20 maps).

Gripshift carries an ESRB rating of “E” for Everyone and will be released in December 2007. While no price has been revealed yet, expect it to cost $10 like the PS3 version.

IGN got the first video of the Xbox 360 racer:

That’s one rockin’ beat. This should be fun.

Warhawk expansion pack Operation: Omega Dawn coming in December 2007

November 26th, 2007 by supadupagama

Warhawk for PS3A new first Warhawk downloadable expansion pack titled “Operation: Omega Dawn” is coming to PlayStation Network this December. With it you get a brand new map and a new aircraft: the awesome KT-424 Combat Dropship.

Operation: Omega Dawn delivers a new gameplay experience that expands the title’s strategic gameplay elements by offering a new world to explore and introducing a unique aircraft to the Warhawk universe: the awesome KT-424 Combat Dropship.

With Operation: Omega Dawn, the war between the Eucadians and the Chernovans forces continues as the two countries fight to control the high-tech facilities of a critical new battlefield – the Omega Factory. The battle takes place in an entirely new world - an industrial night-time setting where players will fight through five new layouts of advanced building complexes and huge industrial towers. The new map supports all existing game modes – including Team Deathmatch, Zone Mode and Capture the Flag – and is the largest combat zone to date for Warhawk!

But that’s not all; no new battlefield would be complete without a new piece of kit, and Operation: Omega Dawn comes complete with a serious toy which will enhance the already intense Warhawk experience: the KT-424 Combat Dropship. You’ll activate the vehicle once you gain control of one of the many weapons factories on the world; once you have it, you’re in charge of an advanced aircraft capable of carrying seven soldiers and a ground vehicle at once. The KT-424 Combat Dropship transports 1 pilot, 6 soldiers and 1 ground vehicle; and features a deadly new weapon – the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon. You’ll have loads of opportunity to take full advantage of the new KT-424 Combat Dropship because the new world is full of vertical gameplay which integrates ship decks, raised platforms, and factory rooftops accessible only by airborne deployment.

Warning: Seagate Maxtor Basics hard drives shipped with Chinese virus that steals passwords from online games

November 14th, 2007 by supadupagama

DO NOT buy the Maxtor U01H500 Basics Personal Storage 3200 500GB External Hard DriveSeagate is warning that a “small number” of its Maxtor Basics Personal Storage 3200 hard drives recently shipped with the Virus.Win32.AutoRun.ah virus, malicious software that “searches for passwords for online games [mainly World of Warcraft] and sends them to a server located in China,” according to a note posted on the Seagate website. Only drives purchased since August 2007 are affected, Seagate said.

Seagate is offering a 60-day free trial of Kaspersky’s anti-virus software through the Seagate website. “The trial version of the Kaspersky anti-virus software is capable of identifying and removing the virus,” spokesman Forrest Monroy said. Since I couldn’t find it on their site myself, an alternative would be the free anti-virus program AVG.

The hard drive maker is blaming an unnamed sub-contractor, located in China, for the problem. Seagate said it learned about the problem from anti-virus vendor Kaspersky Lab. According to published reports, Seagate has had problems with Maxtor Basics drives sold over the past few months in the Netherlands and Taipei. — From Techworld, via 1UP
