Ghostbusters: The Video Game new details. Difference between Wii and Xbox 360 / PS3 versions
November 22nd, 2007 by supadupagama
The latest issue of the American games magazine Games Informer has some new details about Ghostbusters: The Video Game. It also explains what’s different in the Wii version of the game compared to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. It basically says the Wii version will feature most of the same key features, but instead of realistic graphics, it’ll have cartoony graphics.
Here’s the full overview of Wii details:
* Due out close to Halloween.
* Cartoon-style graphics.
* Same storyline as the Xbox 360 / PS3 version.
* Multiplayer a big focus.
* Single player allows 4 player co-op or competitive (split-screen).
* Adversarial mode: Ghosts VS. Ghostbusters.
* Ghosts can pass through certain objects, fly, and sneak up behind players to scare them. Scaring reduces the Ghostbusters health for a certain amount of time.
* Ghostbusters have all their tools, and each Ghostbuster has a special power (Ray is able to
spot where ghosts are going to come through the wall.)

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (Terminator 4) videogame due summer 2009
November 20th, 2007 by supadupagama
The Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (Terminator 4) film and game are scheduled for release in the summer of 2009. The Halcyon Company, a privately funded company who purchased the rights to the Terminator franchise, seeks to resurrect the popular movie in both movie and video game form. The game will appear on all next-generation consoles, so expect it on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC.
Mortiz Borman, the executive producer of T3 and T4, has stated that “With T3, we included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the main narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of inter-related stories covering the future adventures of John Conner and the Terminators. This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base, which was both revitalized and expanded with the global success of T3.”
Former Disney and Bellrock Media exec Peter Levin is heading up Halcyon Games as acting CEO and said “We don’t want the game to be the stepchild to the film. They’re of equal importance, and we want both to be of the same quality and be the same compelling experience.” Vin Diesel’s game production house, Tigon Studios, is joining Levin as vp production. You might know Tigon’s work of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Wheelman fame.
The Ghostbusters 3 Videogame stays puff in first video. Game features multiplayer and co-op!
November 17th, 2007 by supadupagama
The Ghostbusters 3 Videogame is underway and Vivendi have confirmed it will feature both multiplayer and co-op! Just don’t cross the streams. The first video shows scenes colorfully remade from the first Ghostbusters film, from catching Slimer to fighting the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man. Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are getting back together to write the script and revisiting their roles. This is the stuff geek dreams are made of people.
While the following first in-game Ghostbusters footage is shown, the presenters talk about how beautiful it looks like a cross between Luigi’s Mansion and Gears of War.
Expect “Ghostbusters: The Video Game “to be released at the end of 2008 for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and most likely all other platforms.
New Turok gameplay movies. T-Rex fighting, jungle running and much dino shooting!
November 15th, 2007 by astrotriforce
The new Turok game is definitely looking sweet. New gameplay movies of the game show some very smooth gun fighting gameplay with lots of dinosaurs. In that regard it looks better than any of the previous games did. The action is fast and ferocious, even if the T-Rex battle isn’t . . . hopefully it’ll get cleaned up some by the time the game releases, as the T-Rex certainly looks like a push-over and didn’t have the sheer ferocity I was expecting.
The Dark Jungle gameplay movie is particular impressive. You have to fight lots of little climbing dinosaurs that are not only very fast (and will jump on top of you and try to chew your head off) but they can climb up and around the trees! Now THIS is the type of gameplay you like to see from a new Turok game.
I can’t wait to try this game out. Very cool.
Turok is due in February 2008 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Ghostbusters 3 videogame features Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis
November 14th, 2007 by supadupagama
American games magazine Game Informer will have exclusive coverage in their December issue about an upcoming Ghostbusters 3 videogame. We’re tentatively calling it the Ghostbusters 3 game, here’s the quote that explains why…
“Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are getting back together and revisiting their roles to make a sequel to Ghostbusters 1 and 2 – in video-game form. Both Aykroyd and Ramis are teaming up for scriptwriting duties and are going far beyond just the typical licensed add-your-voice-to-the-game-you-had-nothing-to-do-with formula. And no, this has nothing to do with the Ghostbusters Zootfly video demonstration that floated around the internet in January.”
The Zootfly game was cancelled anyway and now we know why, the real cast is reuniting to write for a CGI movie and do voice for both the movie and game! No word yet on who the developers behind the game will be or what platforms it will be for.

DivX video codec support coming soon to PS3 and also hinted for Xbox 360
November 14th, 2007 by supadupagama
The popular DivX video codec is soon coming to the PlayStation 3! This support will be added in a future firmware update. DivX CEO Kevin Hell hinted that DivX support is also coming to the Xbox 360!
To quote: “During the SMid Cap conference call with investment firm JP Morgan, Hell was asked if the recent deal that will see DivX codecs shipped with new versions of Microsoft’s standalone Media Center Extenders means that such support will also be arriving on the Xbox 360. ‘Yes!’ was his immediate reply, although he quickly qualified that confirmation with a disclaimer that the deal was still in the negotiation process and had not yet been finalized.” — Via Slashdot
PS: The most recent PS3 2.0 firmware has the ability to detect both DivX and Xvid files, but not yet play them.
Fall Xbox 360 dashboard update reveals Xbox games like Halo for download and films on demand
November 13th, 2007 by supadupagamaThe Fall Xbox 360 dashboard update has been revealed to the Official Xbox Magazine in the UK and will include classic game downloads and films on demand.
Starting December 4th, Microsoft will introduce games it has published for the original Xbox on the Xbox Live Marketplace. This means for about 1200 Microsoft points 1200 Microsoft points (that’s US$15 / €14.40 / £10.20 / CAN$18.60 / AU$19.80) you’ll be able to download and play Halo on Xbox 360! The goal of the service is to bring as much of the back catalogue online as possible.
The initial list of downloads includes: Halo, Fable, Psychonauts, Fahrenheit, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex, and Burnout 3. No word yet on if any of these games will have an increased resolution and whether or not they include online play.
Another welcome addition is new films on demand, although it’s not yet confirmed for the December 4th date. Studios such as Warner Bros are potentially lined up for the service, meaning the initial list of movies will include: The Dark Knight, The Assassination of Jesse James, and I Am Legend.
The film rental service will cost about 600 Microsoft points (that’s US$7.50 / €7.20 / £5.10 / CAN$9.30 / AU$9.90) and come in 720p resolution. You have 14 days to start watching a film once it has been downloaded. Once you started watching a film, you have 24 hours to finish it. After that, the film deletes itself from your hard drive. It’s an online rental service, like the US Video Marketplace.
CVG has since publishing removed the news, likely at the request of Microsoft if it was revealed too soon.
Angry Video Game Nerd reviews Halloween on Atari 2600
October 31st, 2007 by supadupagama
This is the thirty-fourth in a series of bad video game reviews by the Angry Video Game Nerd. This time he reviews Halloween on Atari 2600. This movie-based game was released back in 1983, made by Wizard Video Games, after the 1978 John Carpenter’s Halloween independent horror film.
On the spookiest day of the year The Nerd finds himself in a battle against a crappy game. Happy Halloween!
He also kind of reviews Haunted House and Frankenstein’s Monster.
