A day after Valentines Day, I received a special gift from First Opinions Panel in the amount of 1,500 L$. Well, it’s not really a gift. It’s payment for referring 15 new members to First Opinions Panel. Two days before Valentines Day I received 800 L$ from for the same reason for a total of 2,300 L$. I haven’t received any new paying surveys from them but I still continue to earn from them through referrals.

First Opinions Panel is a great source of earning Linden Dollars for your Second Life. For those not familiar to First Opinions Panel, it is a survey/research group in Second Life and it pays residents for answering surveys. To participate, you must first become a member and you can do that by signing-up here. Members are paid 500L$, even more, per survey. Unfortunately for me, I don’t get that many survey invites. It must be because my profile doesn’t match any of their clients survey requirements but that doesn’t stop me from earning Linden Dollars from them.

Wow! After this blog was defaced by some people you’d think everything will be fine afterwards, right? NOOOOO!!! Today, I received an e-mail from Linden Labs informing me that my Rom Ireton account was suspended for disturbing the peace at LiaisonLand.
“The violation in question occurred on January 30, 2008 in the region of LiaisonLand.”

The latest issue of HodgePodge Magazine is out and in this issue there is a section titled “Avatars Who Care”. I blogged about it last November, 2007 and I kinda read it the wrong way too. LOL!
A brief info of what “Avatars Who Care” is, it’s about recognizing those avatars who had contributed to some extent in various fields like business, fashion, arts, etc. It’s supposed to be published in the December issue of HodgePodge but it was moved to January. Anyway, I was at my place when I noticed that the vendor Isadora sent through the Filipino group wasn’t working. Checking past group notices, I found out that she sent a working replacement so, I took that and replaced the non-working vendor. Of course, I took a copy and besides it’s FREE! By the way, you read a Second Life magazine by wearing it. It will attach as a HUD and you browse the pages by clicking on it. (more…)

When I first signed up with Second Life, it was clearly stated that it is for people 18 years of age and above. Those who are below 18 years of age are not allowed in Second Life but that doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy Second Life, that is why Teen Second Life was created.
Reading Second Life’s blog, they posted about the release of a new candidate viewer (1.18.6 RC0) and the implementation of age verification in it.
I really don’t get the logic of it. If Second Life (the main grid) is for adults only then why add an in-world age verification system. Age verification should be done, initially, at sign-up and not after signing up.
Thus this mean that Linden Labs admits the presence of minors in the main grid and they have failed to limit access to adults only?
I’m not saying that an in-world age verification system is a bad thing. In fact, it’s a good thing because there are indeed minors in the main grid and I’ve met some of them who admitted to me that they are minors but that should be the job of Linden Labs and not the estate or land owners since the sign-up process is still controlled and conducted by Linden Labs.
Implementing an in-world age verification system can also mean that minors are in fact, if not already, welcome in the main grid. Now what’s the purpose of having a Teen Second Life?
Instead of features like this why don’t they focus on important things like viewer stability and scalability. Linden Labs is wasting manpower and resources for something that should have been part of the sign up process for the main grid of Second Life.
Again, it is assumed that everyone in the main grid are adults and if there’s going to be an age verification system it should be placed at the sign up process and not after you signed up and besides, they admitted that it’s not full proof so why waste people’s time with this thing.

Yes, you can make real money in Second Life. How? By earning Linden Dollars in-world. For those unfamiliar to Second Life, Linden Dollars, the in-world currency of Second Life, can be exchanged to US Dollars and vice versa and if you earn enough Linden Dollars in-world you can exchange it to US Dollars and withdraw it through PayPal or have it delivered to you in a check.
How do you earn Linden Dollars? Well, you can start by reading my post, Easy Ways to Earn Linden Dollars in Second Life. It does not list all the ways of earning Linden Dollars but it does list the easy ones.
Now, once you have more than enough Linden Dollars you can venture to other ways of earning them like starting a business, investing in stock exchanges, providing and offering specialized services, etc. These will earn you more Linden Dollars but they’re not that easy to do and a certain amount of risk is involve in them. An example are investing in Stock Exchanges and depositing in Virtual Banks because these businesses can, at anytime, close shop and run away with your hard earn Linden Dollars.
Anyway, you can absolutely make money in Second Life. If you wish to learn more ways then I suggest that you join the many business groups in Second Life. Most of these groups are free to join and once you are in, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Many of them are more than willing to help you.
