Yesterday, I was treated to a very RARE sighting (and NO, I#8217;m not talking about UFO sighting, LOL) in Second Life. I was at sionLabs checking out the sionChicken vendors when a figure named Matthew Linden appeared infront of me. At first I thought I was just seeing things but after zooming in and checking […]pa/pdiv class=”feedflare”

I logged in today in Second Life to be greeted by a 7Seas Social Chat group discussion about fishing bots. The exchange of thought was surprising and it seems that most, if not all, are against the use of this fishing bot. I know sooner or later someone would come up with something like a […]
The practice of illegally copying or cloning objects in Second Life, as least for me, is a very big issue that should be taken seriously but there are merchants and creators specially in SLExchange who does not believe or do they care about this issue. In one thread, a creator and a merchant posted her […]
Bots in Second Life are third party programs used to access the server to perform and automate various tasks like camping, group joining, greeting and even copying/cloning. They are based on LibSecondLife’s code, which is Open Source, and are very lightweight since they’re text only. Unlike, those bots found in mmorpgs and other online games, […]
When I first tried Second Life, I didn’t quite get it and left it the same day but the second time I tried it I finally did maybe because I was better informed and got the chance to learn more about it. As I explore this virtual world I learned a lot about it and […]
Did you know that Linden Labs is experimenting on a new way to control your Second Life avatar? They are using what is called a 3D Webcam to interact and control an avatar inside the virtual world of Second Life. Below is a YouTube video that demonstrates basic movement without the use of a mouse or a keyboard to control an avatar using this technology.
I find this technology interesting and weird at the same time. Interesting because it’s something new and if it becomes available, I’m sure a lot of people will have fun using it. Weird because you’ll be like standing infront of a camera doing all these various movements just to control an avatar. Honestly, I find using a mouse and a keyboard much simpler and easier to do.
Well, Linden Labs recently released a new First Look Viewer (FLV) named Dazzle and sad to say I was not Dazzled at all. The Dazzle FLV introduced a new color scheme for the viewer’s GUI and although it is an improvement to the regular viewer’s GUI but please it was far from Dazzling. I admit that I like it but it will take more than that to Dazzle me, in fact, OnRez’s Second Life viewer has a more Dazzling GUI, at least for me it is.
Last February 5, 2008 there was a skin theft protest at a mall in Scapoli. Out of curiousity, I went to take a look at an actual skin theft protest. An avatar named Thora Charron was there with a huge sign above her head. The sign had the words “stop stealing my work” written on it. A few other personalities were also there but what caught my attention were two avatars, a male and female, wearing a plain white texture as their skin with the words “I’d rather go naked than wear stolen skins”. The white texture skin looked creepier than the default grey skin seen on your avatar while it’s loading. (more…)
I was going through the Second Life Blogosphere when a particular issue caught my attention. That issue is about Stolen Skins (or textures). Texture (skins are just textures) theft has always been a big problem in Second Life and many designers, specially the popular ones, have had their textures stolen and sold at very low prices. This is very unfair for the designers because creating an original texture, specially an original skin, is a very difficult process. I know how hard it is because I tried creating my own skin once. That is why I understand why Skins in Second Life, specially the good ones, cost so much. (more…)
This is an update to my account being suspended for disturbing the peace. Just a few hours ago, after clarifying with Linden Labs Support Team, my account was reactivated. This morning, I received an e-mail from them informing me that my account has been reactivated.
Your account has been reactivated…
