Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (Terminator 4) videogame due summer 2009

November 20th, 2007 by supadupagama

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines movieThe Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (Terminator 4) film and game are scheduled for release in the summer of 2009. The Halcyon Company, a privately funded company who purchased the rights to the Terminator franchise, seeks to resurrect the popular movie in both movie and video game form. The game will appear on all next-generation consoles, so expect it on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC.

Mortiz Borman, the executive producer of T3 and T4, has stated that “With T3, we included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the main narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of inter-related stories covering the future adventures of John Conner and the Terminators. This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base, which was both revitalized and expanded with the global success of T3.”

Former Disney and Bellrock Media exec Peter Levin is heading up Halcyon Games as acting CEO and said “We don’t want the game to be the stepchild to the film. They’re of equal importance, and we want both to be of the same quality and be the same compelling experience.” Vin Diesel’s game production house, Tigon Studios, is joining Levin as vp production. You might know Tigon’s work of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and The Wheelman fame.

The Ghostbusters 3 Videogame stays puff in first video. Game features multiplayer and co-op!

November 17th, 2007 by supadupagama

Ghostbusters 1 & 2 DVD box setThe Ghostbusters 3 Videogame is underway and Vivendi have confirmed it will feature both multiplayer and co-op! Just don’t cross the streams. The first video shows scenes colorfully remade from the first Ghostbusters film, from catching Slimer to fighting the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man. Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are getting back together to write the script and revisiting their roles. This is the stuff geek dreams are made of people. :)

While the following first in-game Ghostbusters footage is shown, the presenters talk about how beautiful it looks like a cross between Luigi’s Mansion and Gears of War.

Expect “Ghostbusters: The Video Game “to be released at the end of 2008 for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and most likely all other platforms.

Ghostbusters 3 videogame features Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis

November 14th, 2007 by supadupagama

Ghostbusters 3 videogame coverAmerican games magazine Game Informer will have exclusive coverage in their December issue about an upcoming Ghostbusters 3 videogame. We’re tentatively calling it the Ghostbusters 3 game, here’s the quote that explains why…

Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are getting back together and revisiting their roles to make a sequel to Ghostbusters 1 and 2 – in video-game form. Both Aykroyd and Ramis are teaming up for scriptwriting duties and are going far beyond just the typical licensed add-your-voice-to-the-game-you-had-nothing-to-do-with formula. And no, this has nothing to do with the Ghostbusters Zootfly video demonstration that floated around the internet in January.”

The Zootfly game was cancelled anyway and now we know why, the real cast is reuniting to write for a CGI movie and do voice for both the movie and game! No word yet on who the developers behind the game will be or what platforms it will be for.

Tekken movie poster surfaces and Onimusha movie coming?

November 1st, 2007 by astrotriforce

Tekken Movie Teaser PosterA Tekken movie has apparently been in production for over five years, with the first word on the project dating back to February of 2002!

Back then it was reported that production company Crystal Sky Pictures had secured the rights to the film for $60 million, although two years later it was reported that Dimension Films, a subsidiary of Miramax, had been tied to co-fund the and distribute the movie.

News of the movie since has been non-existent, although now Coming Soon is reporting that Sony Picture’s Screen Gems will now be distributing the movie (which I’d bet will also pop-up exclusively on a PS3 near you when it actually comes out) and the first teaser poster has been spotted.

The teaser poster simply shows a large, stone or metallic T structure rising up as well as the cryptic words:
After the Great Terror Wars, governments fell…
Seven corporations rose from the ashes to rule all men…
Together they were known as The Iron Fist…
The mightiest of which was…
Tekken

Sounds “meh” already! :P What I’m wondering is whether or not this is live-action or animated . . . but let’s hope it’s better than the Dead or Alive flick, or at least more true to it’s source material . . .

What is also very interesting is that, in the same story, Coming Soon reports that an Onimusha film is also in the works and will start shooting in April . . . No release date for either film has been announced yet.

Sony says PlayStation Network will bring music and films to PS3 in 2008

October 16th, 2007 by supadupagama

The PlayStation 3 console is about to get even more multimediaIn an effort to catch up with Microsoft’s Xbox Live and Xbox Live Marketplace game/video download service, Sony is working on plans of their own to distribute video (like films and television episodes) and music via their own download service PlayStation Network. And there are also plans to transform the PlayStation 3 games console into a multimedia device capable of networking with other Sony hardware.

Sir Howard Stringer, Sony chief executive, said so during an interview in Moscow: “We are building a software infrastructure to distribute video and music, more particularly video, through the PlayStation Network. That is a Japanese and American combined effort to build a platform around a common software architecture to distribute video via the PlayStation network into the [PSP handhelds] and beyond. We are trying to get our devices to talk to each other efficiently. PlayStation Network should migrate from gadget to gadget. But initially it starts with PlayStation devices and then to TV and beyond. That’s the goal.”
The Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy on Blu-Ray
He gave no timescale for the service, but the Financial Times quoted him as saying: “We won’t know how effective [the effort] is until early next year.” So the wait is on for 2008. Meanwhile, just go buy Blu-Ray films like the Spider-Man HD Trilogy or something! ;-)

Pre-order The Princess Bride 20th Anniversary Edition DVDMovie publisher Act III Licensing has recently announced a deal with games developer Worldwide Biggies to release a video game based on the the 1987 film The Princess Bride, which is known as an intelligent fairytale that has stood the test of time.

Worldwide Biggies CEO Albie Hecht was quoted as saying a “fun DVD game” teaser version of the PC game will be on the upcoming “The Princess Bride 20th Anniversary Edition DVD,” that will be released on November 13th, 2007. The full game titled “True Love and High Adventure — The Official Princess Bride Game,” will be released as an online download in spring 2008.

Mr. Hecht added there are no plans for retail distribution, but he said the game has a strong chance to tap into the burgeoning casual gaming audience. And that includes women, many of whom grew up as fans of the Rob Reiner movie that starred Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, and Mandy Patinkin. Quotes the Hollywoodreporter.

I’ll show him that men also like this movie by quoting Inigo Montoya from memory: “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!!” etc. etc.
