This holiday season will make or break the Wii

At least, that's what Eidos's Julien Merceron believes. The company's chief technology officer said recently in an interview, "Either third party developers and publishers will make money on the Wii platform [this Christmas], or they won't - and if most of them don't I think we'll see a big drop in support for the Wii next year, which could have some consequences for Nintendo, and very positive ones for Microsoft and Sony."

The way Merceron sees it, it's obvious that some Nintendo titles will make money this season, but third party games are another story. Of course, if third parties produce unimpressive stuff, we think that they shouldn't expect to be rewarded. Yet, it's a shame if quality games like Zack & Wiki don't succeed. But, what do you think? Will third party games sell well on the Wii this holiday season, and, more importantly, is the Wii's success depending on it?

Lara has got some new tools

With some new tools at her disposal, Lara looks like she is very much prepared for her jaunt in the Wii version of Tomb Raider Anniversary. Sure, it's just a port of the PS2 game, but when that game is great and has some valid additions to support its claim that it should be on the Wii, we have to get behind it.

Check past the break for part two.

October 17th, 2007 by supadupagama

Tomb Raider Anniversary for Xbox 360Eidos confirms that Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary for the Xbox 360 will be released to retail stores on October 23rd in America and October 26th in Europe. In November 2007, the game will also be available as downloadable episodic content for Xbox 360 in two installments, each containing two chapters and the mansion level.

In order to access Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary downloadable episodic content for Xbox 360, players will require a Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend disc. All four episodes will cost you 2400 Microsoft points (that’s $29.99 / €27.91 / £20.40). Additional downloadable content will also become available for purchase on Marketplace to support the launch of Tomb Raider: Anniversary such as gamer picture packs and theme packs.

Inspired by the first Tomb Raider video game, originally released in 1996, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a totally new adventure for Lara, faithfully preserving the elements which made the original Tomb Raider such a classic (selling over 7 million copies worldwide). The Tomb Raider series is still one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time with over 32 million copies sold and two major feature films released, starring Angelina Jolie.

“Tomb Raider Anniversary encapsulates the exploration and discovery which was the core story of the game that started it all, but is dramatically enhanced for a modern audience”, commented Robert Lindsey, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Eidos, Inc. “With the release of Anniversary for the 360, we are bringing an already celebrated title to the Xbox audience and embracing online trends with the downloadable version”.

September 27th, 2007 by astrotriforce

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men for Xbox 360Kane & Lynch: Dead Men has gotten an official release date of November 20th in the US, which is the same day as Mass Effect, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Games as was just announced, and a release date of November 23rd in Europe.

Even though the game will have to deal with some stiff competition it still may get the attention it deserves. Namely due to the game being developed by IO Interactive, the same team that brought us the Hitman series and Freedom Fighters. The rights for Kane & Lynch were even bought by Lionsgate to turn it into a feature film.

For more information on the game check out our previous coverage of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, which will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
