If you’ve been having a tough time accruing enough coins in Club Nintendo to get your very own copy of Game & Watch Collection for DS, know that Nintendo is planning to parcel out nine different Game & Watch classics to DSiWare in Japan. Kotaku reports that Nintendo will be offering each individual game for a very reasonable 200 DSi Points over the summer, meaning you can have your own piece of gaming history on the go for a measly $2.
There’s no word on these escaping Japan, but considering that a majority of the content offered on DSiWare there has made its way over here, it’s likely only a matter of time.

This week, a reader question about Club Nintendo reminded me of the rewards currently available, including the marginally useful, but so pretty Mario Nintendo DS Game Rack. I want one of these, but what would I do with it? Choose eight games to display? I might just get one and use it as a display piece with nothing in it. It can display itself.
If you have a question about Mario hat-shaped things or anything else Nintendo related, send it to us by email at asknintendo AT joystiq DOT com.

Are you a Club Nintendo Platinum member? The most dedicated Nintendo fans have registered their numerous Nintendo games and have earned VIP status. These faithful are getting rewarded yet again in an “exclusive” event meant specifically for Club Nintendo members. Platinum members that live near a event locations will gain entry to a special DSi event where fans can preview the upcoming system weeks ahead of its US release.
The DSi isn’t a revolutionary upgrade from the previous DS Lite, but we’re glad to see Nintendo rewarding its fans in new and unique ways. We hope this event is but the first of a long line of events planned for Club Nintendo elite.
Not invited to the Club Nintendo event? Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered. Check out our unboxing of a Japanese system for a hands-on rundown of features, and have a look at the awesome DSiWare downloads that have come to Japan. Then torture yourself with the limited-edition FFCC: Echoes of Time DSi that probably won’t make it here!

Last month, Nintendo revealed that Club Nintendo, Japan and Europe’s ace consumer rewards program, would launch in North America. Weeks of silence followed, but now Cammie Dunaway has started talking up the service. Here are five crucial facts she divulged to MTV Multiplayer:
- Club Nintendo in North America is still on schedule to launch before the end of 2008.
- It will be more like the Japanese program than the European, in that there will be more physical products than digital.
- As is the case in Europe, you gain points (known as gold coins in North America) by purchasing a product and entering a code on the Club Nintendo site, and can reap further points by completing surveys on the product you bought. In Europe, it’s worth mentioning that these are hardly time-consuming: just five or six questions with tickboxes.
- Unlike in Europe, you can gain points for indicating an interest in purchasing before buying. Noice!
- Some items from the Japanese service will make it to North America (Yay! And also: please include this).
If you’ll excuse us, we’re now going to randomly hit our keyboard in a fit of wild, unabated excitement. YAKJFDAIWOQBHKJGFEDRYUVBEIUQ
[Update: A clarification: the service will be coming to North America as a whole! Apologies for the geographical confusion!]
Want to see Club Nintendo’s greatest gifts to Japan and Europe? OF COURSE YOU DO. So go here.

Importers NCSX and Play-Asia are freeing us from the unavailability of awesome Japanese Club Nintendo
exclusives -- presumably, by paying some Japanese people for theirs. Whatever methods they use to get these things, we
cannot argue with the results.
Because the result is the opportunity to preorder the Super Famicom Classic Controller.
Both companies will ship the item in April (and the
Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack in January) in April, but NCSX is taking preorders
right now for $30. We don't know when Play-Asia will open preorders or how much they will charge. All we know is this:
YES. Who cares if it's a freebie for Club Nintendo members? We're just happy to have a shot at it.

Just look at that. Isn't it glorious? What you're seeing above, folks, is a Wii-compatible
SNES pad. Let's say that again, shall we? A
Wii-compatible SNES pad. Don't get too worked up though, because unless you're a member of Club Nintendo in Japan, these are off-limits (not that using a SNES pad for your VC games is
impossible, but still, this is the real deal).
Yep, it's
another reason we really should move to Japan. Hit the link below, and you'll see two more: a 2-disc
Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack and a Mario desk calendar. All of which are
horribly, tortuously unobtainable. Sob.
[Thanks Daniel!]
