It’s tough being a super hero. If you’re Dr. Doom and you’re feeling down, you can just blow something up. If you’re The Thing, well, all you can really do is look in a mirror and cry to yourself.
That was before Punch-Out!!, though, with a new ad (courtesy of Gamervision) popping up in comics showing two beefy brawlers finding a proper outlet for their stress. Oh, we really wouldn’t suggest playing with the Wiimote and Nunchuk, super guys. The game is way better with the classic controls.

The
live-action Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers ads have taken a unique and creative approach to game advertising. Trailers tend to be totally dry affairs stitched together from in-game CG and occasional gameplay, but D3 decided to indulge in ridiculous skits set in a world where zombies live alongside humans, and suffer discrimination (or worse) just for
eating people being different.
Did you find the ads funny? Did they affect your opinion about the game at all? And even if you didn’t necessarily dig these particular skits, do you think publishers would do well to explore this kind of content as a break from the usual trailer format?

How do we know? Because they’re throwing a lot of money into advertising the game. $10 million, to be exact, all in the hopes that you’ll want to hit the virtual slopes with Shaun and the gang.
The campaign started last night, where Ubisoft purchased all of the ad space on the season premiere of popular television show South Park. That’s not it, either, as it’s being reported that Shaun White will make appearances on ESPN shows on November 16th to promote the game. In addition to that, Ubisoft is also purchasing air time on select Viacom channels with the purpose of promoting Shaun White Snowboarding.

This compilation of western and Japanese
Zelda TV commercials is by no means comprehensive, but it does feature three or four that are new to us. Some are just downright peculiar -- the second
Legend of Zelda advert recalls David Lynch's
Eraserhead -- and there's clearly been an unsettling amount of rapping involved in the marketing of the series, something we hadn't noticed previously. The advert for
Twilight Princess is utterly tame in comparison.
No doubt you'll have seen a couple of these about a gazillion times (the
Ocarina of Time commercial from the days when Nintendo didn't think twice about calling you a
weak little girl, and the fabulously dorky "Your parents help you hook it up!" ad from the late-'80s), but it's still worth a watch for the more obscure stuff, some of which even manages to out-weird Sony's recent
output. And that's a heck of an achievement.
