Continuing our romp through the Metroid series's boxart history, we're ending today with a look at covers from Samus's prime installments on both handhelds on consoles. We've also thrown in the packaging designs from the NES Classics releases which we neglected to include yesterday, though none of you noticed. As for music pairings, the boxarts past the post break go best with The Commodores's "Three Times a Lady." Seriously, try it.

Friday Video: Oh no you’re not
August 31st, 2007 by Alisha KarabinusFiled under: Friday Video
This is it. This is why odd little events like Metroid week are so great. Not only do we get to wallow in all things Metroid, but as the week winds down, we get to celebrate with a great little song and video from Uncle Monsterface about one of gaming's biggest revelations. Let's take a little trip back in time -- and behind the break -- to see what it's all about.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
Retro taking time off from Samus
August 31st, 2007 by JC FletcherFiled under: News, Interviews, Video
According to an interview with Retro Studios' Mark Pacini, the developer of all three Metroid Prime games, Corruption will have to satisfy you for a while, because there won't be another Prime for a bit. Or, if there is, it won't be a Retro Studios game.According to Pacini, "We are taking a break from the Metroid series and from Samus. I think that there will be other titles created. But as far as Retro Studios is concerned, we'll take a break for a little bit."
Does anyone else find it weird to have actual news in a softball mainstream-media interview like this one from Yahoo? Also, does anyone think this will be like all those times Hideo Kojima quit Metal Gear?

?WiiFit is It?
August 31st, 2007 by adminThe last game announced today at E3 was easily the most interesting or at most clever. It showed some kind of pad that people stand on to play games, do exercise and compete against other players on a graphical stage.Mr. Miyamoto wanted to show off this game himself, not Zelda, not SM: Galaxy. He wanted […]

Dojo update: WarioWare brings its trademark randomness to Brawl
August 31st, 2007 by JC FletcherFiled under: News
While the main arena of the new WarioWare stage may look like the standard floating-platforms-over-a-flat-space template found in pretty much every new Brawl stage, it has its own special quirks. The whole stage transforms into WarioWare microgames during play!In his post about the new stage, Masahiro Sakurai promises "rewards" for those who successfully complete the objective of each microgame. In the context of Smash Bros., we imagine that either to be a free item or damage for your opponents.
The people who turn items off are going to hate this stage.
